Introducing The Neutrals! 24 miniatures painted by me onto the neutral section of the iconic Farrow and Ball colour card in Autumn 2021. Printed onto beautiful museum-grade paper and signed, dated and embossed. Wrapped with love and care from my studio in South East London, and ready to be posted anywhere in the world.

This print completes my family of Four Seasons prints! In 2021 I worked backwards through the Farrow and Ball colour card. Through the long, dark January of 2021 I painted The Blues, and they’re available as a sumptuous print here. As the green shoots of Spring started to appear, I painted The Greens. During the Summer months I painted the joyous Reds and as quiet Autumn rolled in I painted The Neutrals. And here they are! All of the Four Season prints are the same size (A4) and all printed onto the same sumptuous paper, so they'd be fabulous together, but stand alone just as well. And they’re a standard size this time, so framing is a breeze.

Painting the Neutrals was totally different to painting the Blues, Greens or Reds, as the tonal shifts between these colours are quite subtle. So rather than relying on the colours to bounce off each other, I found myself spending a lot of time thinking about the relationships between the paintings and the different readings that can spring up when you read them left to right, up or down or diagonally. I found that tiny pops of yellow, red and pink completely transformed the muted autumnal tones and I introduced these really sparingly, being careful not to dominate the colour chip, because that should always be allowed to sing out. There’s a quiet wistfulness to this one and a sense of distances to be crossed - there are open roads and open seas, a planet, an airmail letter, a delivery, a bird, a cloud. And right in the middle there’s a full on black and white romance, but I think it’s a complicated one. I’m pretty sure these two are falling in love but will they be able to bridge the gap between Pavilion Gray and Dove Tale? I hope so, but I can only speculate.

It will be posted in a sturdy A4 envelope and wrapped in heavyweight board for extra protection. I process, wrap and post all orders myself from my studio in South East London - I’m definitely not an app - so please feel free to get in touch anytime and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you might have.
