I’m very happy to announce a brand new piece of work which I’ve literally just finished - welcome to The Cats! 36 miniatures on the warmest colours on the Farrow and Ball colour card: a log fire, a radiator, a bright shaft of sunshine. A soft pillow, a hot drink, a book to read. This piece is all about comfort, warmth and feeling the glow of a cosy home. Resting, hibernating, lighting a fire, turning on twinkly lights, being unable to move because there’s a cat on your knee. If I could have painted a purr, I would have.

The Cats is a sister piece to The Dogs, which I finished painting earlier this year, just as winter was coming to an end. I painted The Dogs onto the blues, blacks and greens of the colour card, and it was all about being outdoors - I was thinking about wide open skies, crisp cold air, rain on your face and walking at dusk. The Cats celebrates the indoors, and is painted onto the neighbouring section of the colour card, so they fit together like a jigsaw!

The prints of The Cats are beautiful. They show the paintings at exactly the same size as the original, the colours are spot on and every tiny brushstroke is there to see. Here I am in wintry attire holding up the print to give you a sense of scale. The size is 30cm x 40cm (12” x 16”) so they’ll fit into a standard size frame. There’s a white border built into the print, and each print is signed and embossed in the corner of the white border. They’re wrapped with a flourish from my studio in South East London and packed in a sturdy tube, ready to be posted anywhere in the world!
