“When I was making this painting I had the feeling it was already there, hidden in the colour, and I had to sort of extract it. The parts I didn’t paint are as important as the parts I did paint and deciding when to stop is the tricky part. It’s ready when you can look at it and really inhabit it, and feel the road and the rain and the distant sounds of the city and the music inside the steamed up car.”

The Night, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball paint swatch for London Clay, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of twelve beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow & Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

This miniature is signed and dated on the back and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.
