“With this painting the green grass was the starting point, as I wanted to find a green which could be a meadow at the end of the afternoon, when there is hardly any light left in the sky. To accentuate the smokiness of the colour I wanted to paint something bright, so I painted a luminous white horse. I’m always surprised by how much a colour can change when you place another colour next to it.”

The Horse, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball paint swatch for Green Smoke, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of twelve beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow & Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

This miniature is signed and dated on the back and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.
