The Commission
The Commission
A new opportunity to commission all eleven Greatest Hits miniatures hand-painted by Rachel Spelling onto one complete colour card, plus one surprise painting!
I’m excited to announce that I’ve finally opened up a paint chart commission option! When I started this project I put commissions on hold, because I could see that a visual language was developing and I really wanted to build that up slowly and quietly, and see where it led me. I think I needed a chance to draw breath and really concentrate on the work. I’m happy to say I’m now ready!
If you’ve been following this project for a while you’ll know that I have a range of paintings called The Greatest Hits. These are paintings where the subject and colour combination just sing, and I paint them more than once. I have now developed a Greatest Hit painting for every strip of 12 colours on the beautiful 2020 Farrow and Ball colour card. This combination of paintings has been fine-tuned over several years and it works as a sequence, like a piece of music. This means that I can now paint a limited number of colour cards to order! There will be twelve paintings in total - one Greatest Hit on each strip of colours - and a unique, surprise painting on the last strip of the chart. These paintings sell out really quickly when I have an Originals sale, so this is a rare chance to secure every single one, painted just for you and all onto one spectacular chart. Your walls will collapse from beauty!
The paintings are as follows: The Seagull on New White, The Airmail Letter on Old White, The Lips on Oxford Stone, The Victoria Sponge on French Gray, The Tux on Paean Black, The Eye on Pink Ground, The Bubbles on Preference Red, The Small Bird on Card Room Green, The Tennis Ball on Yeabridge Green, The Park on Borrowed Light and The World on Railings. The surprise painting on the twelfth strip of colours is - a surprise! And it will be different each time. The piece is signed, dated and embossed and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. It is sold unframed and measures 21cm x 91cm.
Please be aware that this piece is specifically designed for the 2020 Farrow and Ball colour card, which is where this project began - they are no longer in production in 2025 and I don’t have many left! So this commission opportunity will not be available indefinitely. I will need at least four weeks to complete your piece, and I will paint the commissions in the order in which they arrive.
If you’d like to discuss commissioning this piece please get in touch. You will always reach me directly. Thank you!
Please note: I am based in London, UK. I regularly sell my work internationally and I take care of the export formalities, but the recipient will be responsible for paying any import duties or related fees that may be applicable in their country. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
