Chinoiserie-inspired mural for kids room with flowers, trees and birds

HAND-PAINTED FLOWERS, TREES AND BIRDS MURAL

I painted this mural for ten year old Maya, who had chosen quite a grown-up theme but with bright, fun pops of colour. This style of painting comes from a Chinoiserie tradition but with a contemporary influence. When I had finished the room had such a lovely fresh, restful and restorative atmosphere that I didn’t want to leave! I painted whimsical little birds perched on the door frames and flying across the wardrobe doors, and there are butterflies hidden all over the room. The mural had quite a wallpaper-like quality when it was finished, but as it’s hand-painted and designed exclusively for the space it fits in perfectly with the existing furniture and architecture of the room.
